How To Fit A Bra Properly
When fitting a bra it is always best to stand in front of the mirror. Firstly check the underband. Stand in front of a mirror and lift up your arms to see if the underband is tight enough.
Is the underwire still sitting on the body?
Is the band not riding up your back?
If the band is riding up this might mean that your band is too big.
Tip- the underband should fit firmly against the body so that it does not slide around or move away from your chest as you go about your daily activities.

Secondly check the shoulder straps. If the bra straps are digging into the shoulder it could be because the under band is to loose and therefore the straps are doing most of the work to support the bust*
The underband of a bra provides the majority of support (as much as 80/90%) whereas the straps only carry about 10-20% of the load.
So therefore we would, in this case recommend a smaller band size.

Make sure the straps are not twisted and you have loosened the straps to be comfortable . Have a look at the underwire at the front of your bra. Does it lie just under the bust? If the underwire is being dragged down towards the narrow part of your rib cage it is a sign that you are wearing too small a band size.

Front center of the band.
The center should lie flat against the body, if you cannot get your finger underneath it, it is too tight. If the center doesn't lie flat, this could be a sign that the cups are too small, causing the breasts to push the centre away.

Wire digging into the sides under the arm.
Tip - After I have put on my bra and fastened it, and I am happy with the band and straps I then face forwards and then straighten up. I will then adjust myself so that the breasts sit securely and comfortably inside the cup. Look at the sides of the cups making sure that the breast is completely encased by the underwire.
If there is any underwire digging into the breast tissue you will require a larger cup size.

Bulging over the top of the cup.
If the breast tissue is bulging over the top of your cups this means the cup is too small.

Cups to baggy.
If there are creases in your cups you may need to go down a cup size. If the cup fits snugly but its gapping where the cup meats the strap, it means the bra is finishing too high up on your chest. A balconette bra might suit you better.

If the sides bulge.
You may require a larger band size or choose a style that provides more cup coverage.  A point to remember is that your bra fits correctly it should not be painful or uncomfortable to wear.

Taking your bra measurement.
1/Underbust measurement.
Measure under your bust tightly in inches, if the measurement is an even number of inches then add 4 inches to the sise.i.e measures 36 inches add 4 inches = 40 inches.
If the measurement is odd then add 5 inches i.e 27 inches add 5 inches = 32 inches.
This measurement has obtained your band size.

2/Over bust measurement.
Measure around the fuller part of your bust lightly ensuring you do not do it to tightly.
If the measurement is the same size as your band size your cup size is A.
1 inch more gives cup size B
2 inch more gives cup size C
3 inch more gives cup size D
4 inch more gives cup size E
5 inch more gives cup size F
as so on through cup size FF,G

Example.
Under bust measurement of 32 + 4 inches = 36
Over bust measurement of 38 inches = cup C
Bra Size = 38C

Please note these notes and tips aim to provide an overall general indication of your bra size. However the best guide is a bra that you already wear and know to be comfortable. Do also bear in mind that sizes do often vary between Manufacturers different styles of bras. Please also note that the older you are, you may need to be more generous when you measure yourself.
Finding the right size bra is often a problem for many women.
research shows that an estimate of 80% of women wear the wrong size bra. An ill fitting bra is not healthy for your breasts, especially if the bra is too tight.
